Participation in 4 Days Assessment Camp of ALIMCO In collabration with Sarva Shiksha Abiyan J&k

On 27 May 2012, ALIMCO – Artificial Limb manufacturing Corporation of India, Kanpur in Collaboration with State project Director Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Government of Jammu and Kashmir started 4 days assessment programme for children with special needs in District anantnag. The opening camp was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Education officer Anantnag in presence of ZEO Bijbehara, ZEO Anantnag and ZEO Achabal. ALIMCO resource persons were present on occasion, Honorary Chairman Humanity Welfare organization HELPline was also invited to the camp. He along with Special children of Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusive Education participated in the camp at Block Resource Centre Khanabal located in Higher Secondary School Khanabal. Around 400 Children with Special needs were assessed for grant of artificial limbs, aids and appliances and other assistive devices. The Zonal resource persons under leadership of Coordinator DRG, CWSN Programme coordinator and Gender Bias coordinator made the camps successful. The participants were assessed given refreshment and reimbursed travel expenses. For the first time it has been announced that needs of disable children will be fulfilled within one month so that they are not dropped out from schools because of no assistive supportive devices. The team is on move from verinag zone to bidder zone and finally it will conclude at Aishmuqam zone on 30th May. So far 3000 children with special needs have been assessed and more than 4000 are needed to asses in future programmes/assessment camps.
